A03: Two-photon physics with biexciton transitions


This project is focused on two-photon transitions between the groundstate of a semiconductor quantum dot and its biexciton state. After coherent preparation of the biexciton by resonant two-photon absorption, parametric downconversion will be performed via a virtual state, which is introduced by a strong local oscillator laser field. Based on this concept, the energy and polarization of the single photon emission can be controlled in a complementary way by a classical laser field. The project lays the groundwork for a new generation of nonlinear optical devices based on quantum optical principles.
