C02: Monolithic integration of a parametric down-conversion source and a two-photon interferometer

Abstract

The central goal of this project is the demonstration of a two-photon quantum interference device with monolithically integrated photon-pair source and fast electro-optic polarization control. It is regarded as a first meaningful quantum optical circuit with monolithically integrated active components based on γ(2)-nonlinearities. Ti-indiffused waveguide structures in LiNbO3 with periodically poled domain sections will provide highly efficient generation of photon pairs of orthogonal polarization by parametric down-conversion as well as fast electro-optic polarization control for on-chip non-classical Hong-Ou-Mandel interference.
