C03: Nonlinear optics in quantum dot molecules

Abstract

The project is aimed to study nonlinear optical effects in InGaAs quantum dot molecules (QDM). The goal is to use QDM as frequency converters, where absorbed photons excite a particular exciton complex, which may be transformed into another complex by applying a bias on the nano- or picosecond scale and switching the charge distribution between the quantum dots. The Coulomb interaction and Pauli blocking between the confined carriers induce an intrinsic nonlinearity with the possibility of a conditional dynamics.
