A08: Coupling between plasmonic excitations and intersubband transitions in nonlinear metasurfaces

What is my project about?

The project A08 is dealing with the design of plasmonic metasurfaces and their interaction with semiconductor quantum wells. The goal is to establish an experimental method that is sensitive to both the near field effects of the plasmonic particles and at the same time to the energy and momentum distribution of the semiconductors intersubband transitions. This method will give information about the spatial distribution and the coupling between the fundamental and higher harmonic modes, and enable the mapping of the energy and momentum distribution of the quantum wells hot electrons involved.

 What is my in task this project and what is my motivation?

My main task is based on the plasmonic metasurface part. I investigate new designs, analyze them using linear and nonlinear spectroscopy techniques and try to find out the characteristics of particular geometries. For me, the fascinating feature of this meta-materials is the high flexibility in tailoring and manipulating properties of light, as well as the broad spectrum of applications.
