A07: Widely non-degenerate stimulated two-photon emission in semiconductors

What is the challenge of my research project? Why am I eager to do it?
Since 2017 I am a member of the TRR142, first involved in the project A01 and now in the follow-up project A07 as a PhD student. In this project, I focus on the experimental studies of widely non-degenerate two-photon emission stimulated by femtosecond pulses. In particular I want to show that the enhancement of the two-photon emission is associated with the frequency ratio of the driving fields. For my experimental studies I am using a pump-probe-configuration with the possibility to systematically change the wavelengths of the pump and probe pulses while keeping the sum of the photon energies ħωprobe+ ħωpump constant. Furthermore I want to investigate various optically pumped semiconductors as for example GaAs, GaN, ZnO and Cu2O.

Why did I choose this project?
My project is a cooperation in between the group of Markus Betz (TU DO) where I am working experimentally and the group of Torsten Meier (UPB) who is doing the theoretical studies on non-degenerate two-photon emission. I think the exchange in between theory and experiment is a great benefit. The discussion about challenges and results from different perspectives paves the way to new ideas and supports the development of the project.
