What is the challenge of my research project? Why am I eager to do it?
I am a PhD student involved in the project C02 funded by TRR142, which deals with quantum
optical systems in integrated quantum device, namely SU(1,1) interferometer in LiNbO3 platform.
In particular, my work consists on a theoretical investigation and description of these new kind of
interferometers, called SU(1,1) interferometers, which seem to be really promising in order to
improve drastically the phase sensitivity in the interference process, overcoming the limit due to the
classicality of the standard Mach-Zehnder interferometer without introducing exotic input states.
By defining new investigation strategies, I search for the best conditions to deal properly with
realistic SU(1,1) interferometers made of multimode squeezing sources typically used in lab,
namely parametric down conversion sources, in order to analyse the photon number and the phase
sensitivity. Furthermore, with the help of our experimental specialists, we model integrated version
of such interferometers, which will have strategic roles in future technologies.
