What is the challenge of my research project? Why am I eager to do it?
My task is to design and build pump-probe set-up working in ASOPS regime. Perform experiments by using two lasers with repetition rates of 1GHz (as probe) and 10GHz (as pump) which excite system. In scope of this project we investigate resonantly excited magnetization precession in iron garnets thin films. I think magnetism is an interesting field, since it plays important role in everyday life in fields like data storage, medicine or detectors.
Why did I choose this project?
I am interested in photonics and its applications already since my bachelor studies. This is how I end up writing both of my thesis in cooperation with Institute of Physics in Polish Academy of Science. Since then I use my skills for investigation of optical and magnetic phenomena in various nanostructures. When opportunity of further development in a field appeared I did not hesitate and decide to come to TU Dortmund.
