A constantly changing world requires profound scientific and technological knowledge. And science does not need international or gender boundaries. Therefore, we need to work hard on excellent research in an inclusive environment.
On September 19 and 20, 2023, young scientists of the CRC TRR 142 and guests were invited to present their current research as well as to reflect on career paths within sciences – and what it needs to overcome our own unconscious biases.
To this workshop, established female researchers shared their latest scientific work, and they allowed insights into their personal career. The workshop offered the time and confidential space for female and male scientists to contemplate their role as scientists in a gender-equal scientific world.
Concluding the workshop, a participant stated: “It truly proved to be an incredibly engaging and inspiring event, and I can only hope that all the other attendees found it as enjoyable as I did. Being part of the majority and feeling appreciated in a safe environment had a big impact on me, and I deeply appreciate the opportunity.”
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this TRR 142-workshop, esp. to: Prof. Dr. Christine Silberhorn, Prof. Dr. Birgit Stiller, Dr. Eva-Maria Graefe, Dr. Elizabeth Agudelo, PD Dr. Sonja Barkhofen, Dr. Adriana Bocchini, Dr. Ronja Köthermann, and to Jan-Christoph Daniel who delivered a valuable input on unconscious bias.
