Second PHOTONICS FUTURE workshop in Bad Driburg

 |  TRR 142 - Maßgeschneiderte nichtlineare Photonik: Von grundlegenden Konzepten zu funktionellen Strukturen

For the second time, the workshop ‘PHOTONICS FUTURE. Profound | Equal | Inclusive’ took place in Bad Driburg, organised by TRR 142 and the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS). It was an inspiring event that took an in-depth look at current developments in photonics as well as topics such as diversity and equal opportunities.

The event was characterised by specialist presentations and stimulating discussions led exclusively by female experts. This not only fostered an open environment, but also set an important example for the promotion of women in science and technology.

The presentations covered various aspects of photonics, from innovative technologies to their potential applications in industry. Discussion panels emphasised the importance of diversity in research and the need for equality in science. There were a variety of perspectives that encouraged participants to reflect on existing barriers and develop possible solutions.

Overall, the workshop was another successful step towards a more inclusive scientific community and provided valuable impetus for the future of young researchers.

Many thanks to all participants and especially to the speakers: Prof Dr Ulrike Woggon, Prof Dr Clara Saraceno, Dr Sarah E. Thomas, Dr Regina Christ, Dr Vaishali Adya, Dr Ronja Köthemann and Dr Laura Padberg.
