With over ninety participants from the various TRR 142 scientific groups, this year's TRR 142 workshop was the largest to date. On 6 + 7 November 2023, the scientists presented their research results from the past year and exchanged ideas with invited guest scientists on the latest developments in the field of nonlinear photonics.
In addition to the presentations from the groups, Prof Dr Jonathan Finley (Technical University of Munich), Prof Dr Maria Chekhova (Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Erlangen) and PD Dr Matthias Kleinmann (University of Siegen) gave insights into their research.
In a poster session, the specifics of the individual research topics of TRR 142 were discussed in depth. The Best Poster Award, endowed with a travel grant, was presented to the following winners:
- Lukas Hanscke: Electrical Tunable Single Photon Emitters (1st prize)
- René Geromel and Falco Meier: GaAs metasurfaces for enhanced second harmonic generation (2nd prize)
- Nina Lange: Cavity-enhanced SPDC with temporal filtering using integrated superconducting detectors (3rd prize)
- Helene Wetter: Near-field coupled nonlocal optical metasurfaces for polarisation conversion (3rd prize)
This year's team event showed how well a group of scientists can work together beyond the realm of science: a drumming workshop in which a powerful and harmonious sound experience was created with passionate precision on various percussion instruments.
